Fun and Games Friday: True confession edition

No one reads this blog, right?

Good.

Because otherwise, I’d be uncomfortable admitting that… I’ve developed quite the KenKen habit.

Known as “Sudoku on steroids”, KenKen – unlike the original – is all about arithmetic. Essentially, it’s one big math problem.

It’s fun, challenging, and – as I noted above – highly addictive.

And now that I’ve shared this little secret, it’s your turn: What’s your favorite online vice (other than blogging, of course)?

Come on, don’t be shy.

After all, there’s no one here but you and me…

  1. Reading your blog and compulsively checking Facebook. And many other blogs, too...but the political ones aren't as fun. Especially not tonight. Sigh.

  2. KenKen is a much better variant then regular Sudoko. Thanks for the hookup. I will have to try it out.
Kakuro is also much better in that way. But to say its "all about arithmetic" is a bit much.
Though it always cracks me up that people think they are doing math when they do a Sudoko problem.

  3. Way too intelelctual for the likes of me, my taste runs more to Bubbles or Jewel Quest which I can sometimes play for an hour straight after an especially stressful day at work until my kids will say "Um, Ima, aren't you getting bored yet?"
No, I am not proud to admit this...

  4. Facebook. I love it. And can't seem to stop it.

  5. There's something to do OTHER than blogging online!?

  6. Leora and Baila - Ah, yes, Facebook. It should come with a warning about how addictive it can be...

YT - Interesting. I gather that - unlike KenKen, which involves all four basic arithmetic operations - Kakuro is just addition?

Malke - I'll have to check those games out...

    Jameel - Good question! :-)

  7. I used to play Geo Challenge a lot on FB but haven't done so for a while. I also visit FB pretty often, even more so now that I have an Iphone.
    I'll check KenKen.

  8. My vice is Lexulous, Facebook's current version of Scrabble. It's actually what got me to join Facebook in the first place!

  9. Ilana-Davita - Is your iPhone back in working order?

Toby - Do you play against other players or against the computer?

  10. I play with my family and friends - a really fun way to keep in touch! I find that I'm much better at Scrabble online than in real life, because I can take as long as I want to take my turn - and no one gives me dirty looks while I do :)

  11. Toby - "I can take as long as I want to take my turn - and no one gives me dirty looks while I do" - LOL!
Of course, the flip side is that the more people play games online, the less patience they (myself included) have for fellow players who take long turns in real life...

  12. Forget taking turns - just playing actual games at all! Personally, I grew up playing solitaire - that one with the seven stacks. Nowadays, it's far too annoying for me to set up, knowing that a computer will happily do it with a single click :)

  13. When I was little, we would play double, triple, or even quadruple solitaire. Each player gets his/her own deck of cards and his/her own seven stacks. But once someone puts an ace up on top, any of the other players can put a 2 down on top of it.

It's a lot of fun, but separating the decks after the game was always very annoying...

  14. My mom and I used to play spit like that! But with only five cards across... Ah, those were the days :)

  15. Toby - One, two, three, spit! ;-)
Now THAT'S a great card game. In fact, our kids still play it...

  16. Yes, it's the super-fun game with the unfortunate name :)

  17. Toby - I'm told that there's an Israeli version of Spit, which is slightly different and is called "Speed" (said with an Israeli accent, of course).
