Out of this world

Have you ever heard people say that their memories are so bad that they’re likely to forget their own names next?

Well, apparently, that’s what happened to the producers of this Havdalah candle:

P.S. The latest Kosher Cooking Carnival is available here. Special thanks to Batya for including my chocolate chocolate chip bars.

  1. It took me a while to find the problem. Yes, they should hire you as a proofreader. I understand that in Israel, if companies did this, you would have a lot of work...

  2. Leora - Very true! But credit for this actually goes to one of the Shiputzim sons, who noticed the typo, took a picture of it, and suggested that I post it on the blog... :-)

  3. Israelis don't like to use proofreaders. I even found mistakes in Israeli restaurant menus in NY.
    Thanks for mentioning kcc.

  4. If the Hebrew version wasn't right there, I might have thought they were trying to say they were "the last word in candles." But I guess not :)
    Great find!

Toby - I figured you would appreciate this! :-)

  6. Batya, I hear from sticklers on editing groups that they find errors in menus, as well. So the problem must not be confined to kosher/Israeli restaurants.

@Toby I agree. I think that could have worked well, too. Clearly, though, they meant to translate the Hebrew.

  7. Ariella - And, of course, "Menora" really is "THE candles word"... :-)
