In lieu of an actual post…

Notwithstanding my oft-cited Pesach schedule, this time of year isn’t exactly conducive to blogging. And so, in lieu of an actual post, here are a few more blogbits:

1) Condolences to A Mother in Israel on the loss of her father z”l. After getting up from shiva last week, she wrote up some helpful tips. May she and her family be comforted among the mourners of Tzion and Yerushalayim.

2) Reason #98043a for making aliyah:

Last week, YZG and I went to a wedding at the same Yerushalayim hall and with the same mesader kiddushin (officiating rabbi) as this wedding.

This meant that last week’s chupah (ceremony) was just as beautiful and moving as the previous one – albeit with two main differences:

• The weather wasn’t quite as chilly.
• We had a chance to catch up – in real life, no less! – with fellow blogger Jameel.

3) If you need a quick break from your cleaning, check out this very funny (and rather intellectual) Purim prank over at G6’s blog.

4) Here in TRLEOOB*, today is Annual Move Into Our Springtime Succah Day.

5) Not coincidentally, today is also the day we turn our living room rug upside-down and keep it that way until the end of the week IY”H - in hope that gravity will do its thing on at least some of the dust. </amusing only in Israel scene>

The writing is on the wall

Hellooooo, Our Shiputzim fans!

We gather that many of you have been "in metach", as the kids like to say, about the stairs. Before we get back to this topic, however, let's take a quick survey of today's other accomplishments.

First, the kablan spent some more time working on the insulation in the attic, as you can see here:

He still has to finish up in one corner, and then he's planning on turning off the lights and using silicone to seal up any cracks where light comes through.

He also used something we like to call "devek shayish" (because that's its name) to seal up various and sundry holes and cracks.

For instance, here's one hole where the railing was attached to the floor:

Yes, I know. This is even more enthralling than Friday's pictures of white bathroom walls. :-)
So, since you get the general idea, why don't we just cut to the chase and get back to the stairs.

We begin the stairs segment of today's posting with a heartfelt thank you to a certain "anonymous" (yeah, right!) engineer for his valuable help and professional advice about the stairs. His brilliant insight - namely, cutting a step into the attic floor - makes all the difference. Even the kablan was very impressed.

Anyway, as per the aforementioned engineer's suggestion, YZG and the kablan spent some time playing with string, as you can see here:

And then, they began drawing on our newly painted playroom walls, as evidenced here:

Hidden under the floorboards?

Good evening.

The kablan spent today working on the "finish". [Mah?! Zeh gam milah b'Anglit?!]

Among other things, he put up all the doors.

But, as it turned out, there was no buried treasure underneath:

He must have misread the treasure map.

In any event, in case you're wondering how he got the tile up, the answer is: suction, of course.

In other news, the kablan said that they're IY"H coming to put in the bathroom floor tomorrow. This way the floor can dry by Sunday, and then they can come do the bathroom walls.
