That's a tough one... :-)

Basically, as you know, chodesh means "month". Irgun literally means "organization", but in this case, it refers to a youth movement.

Most youth movements (or at least, the religious-Zionist ones) dedicate one month a year - usually around Cheshvan - to what is essentially a month-long color war or competition between the different shvatim (age groups). Chodesh Irgun culminates with Shabbat Irgun, and on Motzai Shabbat Irgun, the oldest shevet (i.e. the ninth graders) receives a permanent name.

Check out all my Chodesh Irgun posts for more details.Mrs. S.https://www.blogger.com/profile/14649082640953110457noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3089133433897831130.post-72045662988262809232011-05-30T18:34:31.821+03:002011-05-30T18:34:31.821+03:00For the illiterate across the ocean over here coul...For the illiterate across the ocean over here could you explain what Chodesh Irgun is? thanxY Wnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3089133433897831130.post-26712559655631217242011-05-26T22:35:54.686+03:002011-05-26T22:35:54.686+03:00Jameel - Yes!
